Hey blackrose name your top 10 favorite animated movies and why you like them.

Hmmm, my top 3 are extremely easy to say, but everything after that…it’s just off the top of my head.

1) How to Train Your Dragon

It finally got bumped up to #1. I’ve just become completely immersed in the world of HTTYD, and any story that can draw me in and keep me in throughout a movie, short films, and a tv show is worth it’s salt. It has it’s flaws but I think it teaches life’s most important lesson: Tolerance. We could all stand to learn that every once in a while.

2) The Lion King

The reigning champ as my #1 favorite movie since I was a baby. It’s just so heavily engraved in my childhood as just a stunning movie with great animation, great music, and any movie than can make me take talking animals more seriously than humans is already overdoing it’s job XD

3) Finding Nemo

My favorite Pixar movie. It’s another one that just drags me into the world. Every time I watch that movie I just feel like I took a dive underwater. The plot is soooooo unique in a paranoid father searching for his lost son with a memory challenged stranger and somehow it’s the perfect pair to get the job done.

4) Castle in the Sky

It’s hard to pick a Ghibli film to put on here cause they’re all so good, but it’s pretty obvious why this is one here. I LOVE this movie. I’ve got an obsession with floating sky world and cool aeronautics so this movie just fits all my tastes. The characters are great, the romance is good but not too in my face. I love it all!

5) The Little Mermaid

Another Disney movie that’s just too close to my childhood not to put on here. As far as Disney Princesses go, this is one of my favorites despite some complaints it’s a cute story with iconic music!

6) Wall-E

This movie is, again, so unique. Neither of the main characters speak yet both have sooo much voice. That “speaks” volumes. And again, I’m a sucker for a film with a real lesson.

7) The Secret World of Arrietty

I didn’t expect to love this movie as much as I did but, man, this movie was brilliant. It’s a calm movie, not much action, but the characters really make it breath life into the beautiful animation and wonderfully developed plot line.

8) Aladdin

It’s funny, it’s catchy, it’s iconic, it’s my childhood. It’s just a good way to unwind and get some really good laughs in with a touching story to tie a pretty bow around it.

9) The Land Before Time

This would be more the first movie XD But the entire franchise (well, up to movie 7) was so my childhood. But, the first movie was Don Bluth at his finest. It’s gripping tale that shows a innocent children’s journey but not cutting corners. They go through tough times, tough emotions, and, yes, the REALLY face life or death situations. It’s not toned down because it’s children, it’s real (well, as real as talking dinosaurs can get XD)

10) Steamboy

Interesting choice since this movie is kinda like “what movie is that?”. I love this anime movie. The guy who made “Akira” made this and it shows. I’ve got a soft spot for Steampunk and aeronautics, as I said, so this anime movie just made me…tingly. It’s got that classic blend of actions, adventure, innovation, and romance that’s not too in your face but just enough to ease that interest.

So…that’s my top 10 for now. Like I said, choices 4-10 are kinda just off the top of my head and might change once I give it some real thought (I probably forgot a lot of movies…) but my top 3 are definitely correct :)

Thanks for asking.

Hey Rose, I'm starting to wonder if "Secrets of the Ice Cave" is really the slated title for the sequel. I just found the entry on the trademarkia website and it seems to indicate it's for a video game. From the beginning, I never really liked the title anyway. It struck me as contradictory to Dean's statement regarding the sequel as "not feeling like another random adventure" and this superficial title that's centric on the setting/environment makes it seem so in my eyes.

Um…it’s a working title, I believe. Video games typically have the same name as the movies they’re based on. But still…working titles can be changed, as can video game names cause it’s still over a year until the movie comes out and there’s no formal promotion for it yet. But other than Dragons 2…Secrets of the Ice Cave is the only other name I’ve seen for it.

And…I wouldn’t worry too much about the title, per say, the title of the first movie was kinda misleading so…I’m not too worried at the moment. From what I’ve heard the sequel is a lot of deepening to family drama and widening the httyd world so….it’s sounding pretty continual to me.

Saw the Croods today

Looking for a fun movie filled with a little bit of everything? And it literally has a little bit of everything in it.

You’ll laugh, cry (or if you have no soul like me you’ll just be sad), gasp, yell at the screen to hurry up and run, cheer, and want to beat up Eep because you want Guy all to yourself…

All that stuff.

And the visuals/creative development? Sorry Disney, but Dreamworks is kicking your butt on the visuals lately.

And I swear the Giant Saber Tooth Tiger sounded EXACTLY like Toothless. Like…I’m pretty sure they used the same sounds cause it sounded exactly alike. Sneaky Chris Sanders is saving money and reusing sounds from his last movie…clever.

But seriously…go see it. Dreamworks Animation is in a pickle after the box office results of RotG….so go see this movie for the future of DWA.

Riders of Berk Season Finale commercial [Low Quality]

Title kind of says it all….

volume is kind of low so turn it up or wear headphones…or both.

This should hold you all until an HQ version shows up.

Not reading the HTTYD books does not make me less of a fan

Not reading the HTTYD books does not mean I have no idea what happens in them or what the differences are

Not reading the HTTYD books does not mean I have no respect for the original author

Not reading the HTTYD books does not mean I…

I agree.

I really don’t get why “I read the books and watched the movie” makes someone better than someone who hasn’t read the books….?

Just like someone who has only read the books and is in the book fandom isn’t less of a fan if they haven’t seen the movie/tv show yet.

It’s just…circumstances sometimes don’t allow for both. Some people may have never heard of the movie/tv show…some may have never heard of the book series.

For the longest time I didn’t read the books because none of my book stores seemed to carry it, and when they started carrying it…I got the first 4 books for my birthday. So….circumstances.

Everyone should just be happy this franchise has a good book series AND a good movie adaption to enjoy.

But people always love to feel like they’re better than someone else…so….

People who only like HTTYD for Night Furies and completely ignore the plot surrounding Hiccup and his father
