Man, these questions keep getting better.
Okay, here goes, same rules apply as the other two:
1) Kim and Ron from “Kim Possible”
This is the BEST example of a well paced, compatible, and actually shown post-dating animated relationship.
Kim and Ron started off as best friends since pre-K, grew up together, knew each other in and out. They were almost polar opposites, yet somehow they were the perfect match. It was great to see their already extremely close friendship grow into that awkward “crossing the line” stage and then they finally gave in during the season 3 finale and decided to date.
BUT what sets them apart is that with 3 seasons of flawless pacing to bring them to that point, they even managed to show what happened after the two started going out AND it was well done! Their dating didn’t ruin the show the, in fact, it made it better because there was no longer that teasing factor in their relationship.
2) Aang and Katara from “Avatar the Last Airbender”
The most epic animated romance (or just romance in my opinion). In a time of peril and war somehow a romance between a 12-year-old and a 14-year-old is pulled off.
Everything about these two is romantically epic! Their personalities are perfect for each other, it’s a wonderful “the boy who saves the world and the girl who saves him” scenario, and through all their struggles they manage to have this great chemistry of mental and physical intimacy that the show isn’t afraid to show!
They hug, they kiss, they stare, they blush, they do it all and, you know what? The show doesn’t mind actually showing it!
And, in the post-finale comics they’re dating! So it’s another one of those few animated couples that we get to find out what happens *gasp* after….
3) Arnold and Helga from “Hey Arnold”
Ah, Arnold and Helga…while mostly one-sided it was probably the most entertaining relationship of my childhood.
Arnold was completely clueless to the fact that he was being stalked and worshipped by completely obsessive Helga. But, you can’t help but feel for her. She’s got a sucky life, barely gets noticed, she’s not a beauty queen, she gets judged before she even opens her mouth, and all of that just makes her bitter and afraid to show her feelings.
It’s the most tragic thing watching how almost every episode she loses, she’s alone, and she has this longing in her for Arnold to just look past her mean exterior and see that she’s in love with him. It’s just…heartbreakingly entertaining, and very real.
If the show had continued it would’ve been nice to see what kind of “dysfunctional teenage couple” (so the creator says) they would’ve turned out being, but I’m glad that everything does work out for those two even if it wasn’t shown on the show.
4) Hiccup and Astrid from “Dreamworks Dragons”
Ah, yiss. My newest OTP and a proud addition to the group.
Since this pairing is just beginning I can’t say much about it long term, but there’s something just entirely addicting about watching these two go from enemies to frienemies to friends to awkward more than friends, to….what the heck are they? XD
I think the uncertainty in their relationship kinda makes it exciting, cause I certainly don’t know what they’re going to do next. All their feelings are like some time bomb that could go off any moment.
Still, their personalities work. I don’t see them as a “one true love” couple like the above couples, but they DO work, and pretty well. While being opposites in some ways, they’re very similar in others…they’re balance gives them both that comforting environment they both kinda need. It’s gonna be fun watching these two.
5) Jimmy and Cindy from “The Adventure of Jimmy Neutron”
Classic love-hate relationship between grade school kids.
One thing I loved about the show in general was just that they grew the characters up from thinking the opposite sex had cooties and then letting them go through that awkward ride into hormonal thinking. Jimmy and Cindy’s relationship is a perfect example of this hilarious ride that all 10-12 year old kids take.
They started off not even realizing that they liked each other cause “ewwww, that’s gross” to realizing that they did like each other but they hated each other so…they couldn’t have that XD and then just getting over it and going into the relationship kicking and screaming but realizing that kissing is nice so…what the heck?
Perfectly realistic. They didn’t try and make it some epic romance, cause it wasn’t. It was two kids going through the “change of life” and coming out of it realizing it’s okay to like someone “that way”
6) Eureka and Renton from “Eureka 7”
Another epic romance like Katara and Aang. A young people falling in love in times of peril with a splash of prophecy and it being pulled off with good pacing kind of thing.
Eureka and Renton are more alike in personality and goals but things just keep constantly testing their feelings. Since it’s anime, of course it’s not afraid to show any more…intimate side of their relationship but it makes up for the fact that they don’t kiss until the finale episode. And in the sequel (AU?) story Eureka 7 Ao, it’s nice to see those two married with kids and still just as in love as after the show ended.
7) Suzuka and Yamato from “Suzuka”
I didn’t expect to like this couple so much but between the anime and the continuing of the manga, these two are just the strangest functionally dysfunctional couple out there XD
Suzuka is a hot-headed brat who’s rather throw a fit then just admit that she loves Yamato, and Yamato is just her punching bag who goes off and does impulsive things to get her attention and then spends sooooo much time cleaning up his own messes. They’re both a mess yet they work so well.
Their fights are epic, their make ups are even more epic, and in the end…they’re married and going strong!
8) Yukino and Arima from “Kare Kano”
One of the best teenage school love tales out there. These two manage to have their struggles without it being some over dramatic Degrassi-style moment and it’s all pretty calmed even at it’s worse. Cause…they love each other.
I’m also glad cause this anime really digs inside the minds of the characters, all their thoughts are pretty well said, so the pacing mixed with that is extremely believable. They’re young, they’re new to dating but they ARE in love, and it’ believable. That mixed with a school environment is a rare case.
9) Yumi and Ulrich from “Code Lyoko”
Another odd couple I didn’t expect to be on this list, especially since I tend to like the other couple in this show (Jeremy and Aelita) just as much. But, Yumi and Ulrich have a interesting sense about them.
It’s kinda like Aang and Katara in the sense of…the boy’s younger, the girl’s older, and the boy is more than aware that he could very much loose her to someone more her speed.
Even though they ended on a very open note, the realism in how things are worked out is something to be complimented. They’re both flighty and new and it’s clear that they care for each other but…well, I get the sense that they just weren’t ready. Still, the level of awkward care they had for each other is undeniable and I loved the struggle to measure up that Ulrich has, and the struggle to accept Ulrich’s childish ways sometimes that Yumi goes through.
10) Abe and Mihashi from “Big Windup!”
Okay…this is weird. I don’t really care for slash couples cause it’s simply just not my coup of tea. But THIS couple is on this list cause…I can’t help it! It works so well, I just…I can’t say no.
Abe and Mihashi are polar opposites to the point where you wonder how they stand each other, yet they’re forced to work as a team cause Abe’s the catcher and Mihashi’s the pitcher on their high school baseball team. They form an almost unstoppable battery and watching those two grow to work with each other and bounce off each other’s opposite personalities is one of the best things ever!
Abe struggles to actually be friends with Mihashi once he realizes…he has no friends, and Mihashi admires Abe for helping him break out of his shell.
These two might not be official cause slash isn’t the way the show’s going, but there’s TOO many hints all over the place in this show…there just are, and I’m saying that as someone who NEVER gets into slash couples, the hints are not hard to spot and too in your face to miss.

So…there you go. I still can’t shake that I missed a lot, but here are some honorable mentions:
-Ash and Misty from “Pokemon”
-Rudy and Penny from “Chalkzone”
-Sho and Arrietty from “The Secret world of Arrietty”
-Danny and Sam from “Danny Phantom”
-Soul and Maka from “Soul Eater”

Awwww, remember at the beginning of the series when they were all cute and awkward and then they were all dramatic and confusing and then they were all comfortable around each other and touchy feely?
Yeah…good times.

I noticed this the first time but I also noticed that I’m STILL one of few people who saw this. It seems Dreamworks likes to reuse character models. “Let’s use this one and change it a bit. No one will notice!”
Yeah, I thought Hiccup and Astrid had a strong sibling vibe
That’s so wrong in so many delicious ways

Oh, but I doubt they re-used character models, they favor Hiccup and Astrid but these are different character models.

Part One—Story Elements and Technical Review

I have no idea what this is or where it came from but I’m keeping it.
my friend linked this to me. Derp.
On my dash again. Forever reblog. I love this art!
I love this one, they look like they’ve been caught
What’s Astrid’s other hand doing…?
Um yeah, it says it right on the side of Astrid. “Yeowon”
I love how at the end Hiccup just is like “lemme fall off this cliff and knock some sense into Toothless” and Astrid is like “Hiccup nooooez” and Toothless is like “screw this fight, my human needs me”.
Feels.

awww
I was waiting for someone to screencap and post this (I wonder why I didn’t…?)
I love this shot of Astrid. And just the scene of her in general. It was funny how she was clinging to him so much (which, as much as it was yummy eye candy, wasn’t really romantic more…practical). But still, it’s funny to see her being that scared.
Just another reminder that outside Astrid’s element she turns into…well that. Luckily now that’s she’s associating with Hiccup more her element is a lot broader.
I do like hiccstrid! I like it a lot, actually. I always tend to just ship what’s canon when there is something canon to be shipped.
I guess I like it cause it’s a good “opposites attract” scenario, but then they’re also alike enough to get along. Plus the tv show has kinda made me like it even more cause we get that friendship aspect of their relationship which makes a better foundation.
In the later episode of RoB I do like how they’re beginning to get a lot more comfortable around each other in a slightly more than friends sort of way-ish.
I obviously could be saying a lot more in depth stuff as to why I like it, but I don’t wanna rant too much and annoy my non-hiccstrid liking followers and get arguments and blah blah blah started. So….yes! I like hiccstrid a lot! It has a lot of promise and it’s getting more and more of a good foundation for it to be rock solid in the sequel!
