Saw the Croods today

Looking for a fun movie filled with a little bit of everything? And it literally has a little bit of everything in it.

You’ll laugh, cry (or if you have no soul like me you’ll just be sad), gasp, yell at the screen to hurry up and run, cheer, and want to beat up Eep because you want Guy all to yourself…

All that stuff.

And the visuals/creative development? Sorry Disney, but Dreamworks is kicking your butt on the visuals lately.

And I swear the Giant Saber Tooth Tiger sounded EXACTLY like Toothless. Like…I’m pretty sure they used the same sounds cause it sounded exactly alike. Sneaky Chris Sanders is saving money and reusing sounds from his last movie…clever.

But seriously…go see it. Dreamworks Animation is in a pickle after the box office results of RotG….so go see this movie for the future of DWA.

DreamWorks’ usage of nouns and adjectives

mincoco:

DreamWorks needs to stop taking everyday words and turn them into characters.

Nouns: Frost, Tooth, North, Sand, Bunny, Hiccup, Moon, Black, Night, Fury, Nightmares, Terror, Cupcake

Adjectives: Stoic(Stoick is the spelling of the character’s name),….. I suddenly don’t remember others….

I actually like this about Dreamworks.

It takes skill to take a weird word and make it acceptable as a character’s name.

For example, we all use the word Hiccup, we write about it, we take it seriously, but honestly….the guy’s name is HICCUP XD And we’ve all learned to love and accept it. I think it takes a lot more thought to make an “everyday” word acceptable as a name than just picking a name like “Astrid” or something (don’t get me wrong, though I love Astrid’s name XD)

But, the credit for that doesn’t go to dreamworks obviously it goes to Cressida Cowell, but you get the point. That’s just for anyone, taking a weird word and making it a name that people take seriously even if it’s something silly like “Hiccup” or “Fishlegs” takes more skill!
