A rough character sketch from my upcoming “How to Train Your Dragon” fanfic “A VikingPunk Tale”

Prince Hiccup Haddock:

At 14-years-old young prince Hiccup is the hope and heir to the royal Haddock lineage since he is the only son of King Stoick, but he couldn’t be any less of what is expected of a prince. Though tactful, quick witted, and wise beyond his years, his talents are rarely appreciated in the brawny world he’s been raised in, and although he tries desperately to meet the par of his cousin Snotlout, Hiccup knows deep down that taking the throne isn’t the path for him. 

But, when Hiccup unexpectedly befriends a deadly Night Fury with a mysterious past, he discovers he has an odd ability that allows him to read the hearts of dragons. Soon enough, Hiccup is thrust into a destiny chasing journey that will take him to the edge of the world, the threshold of the Roman Empire, and even face to face with the coming of Ragnarok itself!

But, what cost will his new destiny have on his force fate of becoming King to the Royal Viking Empire?
